'Be Active' Cable Beach Triathlon 2011 Main Event (Sprint and Enticer Distances) - Cable Beach Sunday 21 August 2011 Cable Beach looked glorious and the ocean temperature was 24 degrees. What better way to start the 2011 Cable Beach Triathlon on Sunday 21 August 2011. Although numbers were slightly down, the Sprint course saw double the competitors of the Enticer course showing that most participants were keen to try the ‘real’ distance of a triathlon. The field was full of quality athletes with some triathletes travelling from Victoria, Perth and Kununurra. The swim leg was fast and straight as the new course took advantage of the northern current and beautiful flat water. The new bike leg had less turns and directed athletes out to Gubinge road before a tight turn around on Gantheume Point Road and back (of course the ‘sprint’ distance did this course twice). The run was familiar with those that had competed before and the water station midway was greatly appreciated as the temperatures started rising.
